threat of night, the back to back look of men in bars, faces resolute
and the skirmishes of women, shirking off the tales they could tell

I wanted to walk out boldly onto the canvas stick a knife in it, leave a stain
But the room is entered with a cough and a beer, and the forgiveness of a computer screen

Stuck in traffic we share our eyes in the mirror
We are going somewhere aren't we?
And then its the road and speed and the lights in front and keeping up
All before the hesitant caress of bed
